Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra repair — S Pen digitiser and OLED display assembly

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra Repair: S Pen Port and Digitiser Considerations

Samsung’s decision to integrate the S Pen into the Galaxy S22 Ultra adds complexity to what would otherwise be a standard Galaxy S-series repair.

The Additional Digitiser Layer

The S22 Ultra display includes a Wacom digitiser layer beneath the OLED panel that detects S Pen position without Bluetooth. This layer is factory-bonded to the display assembly and is not sold separately. If the S Pen stops registering on screen after a repair, the digitiser layer has been damaged — typically by excess heat during adhesive removal or mechanical pressure during prying. This requires a full display assembly replacement.

S Pen Silo and Port

The S Pen silo runs along the bottom-left of the device and connects to an ejection spring mechanism. If the S Pen doesn’t click in or release properly after a back glass repair, the ejection mechanism has been displaced — it can usually be re-seated without additional parts.

Back Glass Replacement Specifics

The S22 Ultra back glass uses Samsung’s Armor Aluminium frame with strong adhesive. The S Pen silo opening creates an additional stress point near the bottom edge — take extra care with heat application and prying pressure in this area.

Parts to Source

For screen replacements, always order a full OLED assembly with the digitiser layer pre-installed. For back glass, confirm whether the replacement includes the S Pen silo pre-cut (most do). Browse our Samsung Galaxy back cover parts for S22 Ultra back glass.
